2008 Overseas Player

The actual overseas player for 2008 will be Sean O’Neill from Melbourne.  Currently playing first grade in the Geelong Cricket Association for Thomson Cricket Club alongside Johnny Kettle, he comes highly recommended by former teammate and ex-Park player Daniel Leech (no pressure Danny).  Sean is also co-coach (and vice-captain) of his club, so hopefully he will be able to teach the younger members of the squad a thing or two, as well as contributing on the field.

The stats below show that he is currently out-performing Kettle which is a promising sign when you consider Kettle is the premier league champion’s opening batsman.  Lets hope he can adapt to the conditions over here.

He has represented Victoria at junior level and also captained his regional U21 side in the summer.  Also, he has played representative cricket for Geelong and the Barwon region.  In 2004/5 he was named league and regional junior player of the year, scoring 454 runs at an average of 90 and took 22 wickets at an average of 11, this resulted in him being named captain of the all-star team.

Finally reports that they are his two kids in the picture remain unconfirmed…
