Following a promising start to the season, Winnington Park’s 2nd XI have now lost their last two games after they fell victim to Barrow.
After winning the toss, Park captain Phill Amatiello elected to bowl, and his team made a good start - opening bowlers Stu Moniz and Sam Barnes each picked up an early wicket.
But Barrow Chairman Nick Bell (54) and Richard Weaver (62) put on a large third wicket partnership to put the visitors in the driving seat.
The rest of Barrow’s batting line-up failed to impress as youngsters Bailey Metzinger (4-31) and Sam Barnes (3-26) ripped through the tail; but Bell and Weaver had already done the damage.
The other wickets were claimed by Stu Moniz (1-49), Tom Woolley (1-22) and a James Hanson run out as Barrow were all out for 177.
Winnington had not been bowled out for the first five games of the season, but they have now failed to reach triple figures for two weeks in a row.
Sam Speak (25*) was the standout batsman, and opener Josh Tench (17) provided some resistance as Park limped to 94 all out.
James (4-17) and Nelson (3-24) impressed with the ball for Barrow as they recorded their first win of the season in the TACS Partnership Cheshire Cricket League Division C.
Park earned five bowling points to take their season total to 106, although they will be looking for a much improved performance next week away at Sandbach.
