Michael Dunning and Jack Riley shared a tenth wicket partnership of 78 to see
Winnington Park to an improbable victory over Oakmere on Saturday.
Riley (35*), a winter signing from Northwich joined Dunning (75*) at the
crease with Park on 105-9, and facing a second defeat in as many games.
What followed was a brutal onslaught as the pair hit 78 runs in just nine
overs. Dunning scoring his 75 off 55 balls, and Riley with 35 off 22 balls.
Earlier Park had won the toss and asked Oakmere to bat first. Yearsley (53)
and Guest (48) laid the foundations for the free-hitting Ball (56) to come in
and boost the Oakmere total to 181-6 declared, from 44 overs. Former Oulton Park
player Daniel Ainsworth (4-24) was the pick of the Park bowlers.
Michael Cushion (4-38) and Nick Ball (3-65) knocked over Park's top order,
but they were left scratching their heads as Dunning and Riley saw Park home
with four overs to spare.
Winnington captain Jonathan Wales said; "Over the last few seasons we've won
a couple of games from losing positions, and here we are doing it again. We will
enjoy this victory tonight, but tomorrow we will start looking towards next
weekend's derby against Northwich".
