Winnington Park will find it difficult to avoid the drop to Division 2 of the
TACS Cheshire Cricket League having collected one point from their trip to fellow strugglers Runcorn on Saturday.
The defeat makes it four in the last five games for Mike Johns' men, and is the second week in a row they've been bowled out for under a hundred.
Put in to bat, Park were under immediate pressure from the experienced bowling partnership of Steven Sheakey (6-24) and Jamie Hill (2-12). Runcorn captain Sheakey claimed six of the top eight Park batsman, as only one managed to reach double figures.
The late arriving Ian Woodcock (16 not out) was able to add some respectability to Winnington's total, but the damage had already been done, and they were dismissed for just 72.
Park looked like collecting no points for a second consecutive week, but aided by an excellent catch from Alec Butcher, Rob Begbie (1-29) was able to claim a wicket, and get Park on the board.
Ryan Beech (24 not out) and Matthew Keenan (25 not out) were able to see Runcorn home in just 13 overs. The result leaves Winnington 54 points from safety with just five games to go.
