Fantasy Cricket 2008

Due to it’s success and popularity last season, the same format will be used in 2008.  This is a fixture list where your team “competes” against other player’s teams, the team in each fixture that gets the most points that week will be awarded two points.

The main addition for 2008 is the introduction of a 12th man.  This is a player selected at no extra cost where only their fielding points will be awarded, but that figure will be doubled.  Also one batsman or one bowler can be dropped in place of an extra all-rounder due to the rising number in the all-rounder category.

Here are the new and improved rules for the 2007 season.

The entrance fee will be £5 a team, there is no limit on the number of teams.

Each team must consist of 4 batsmen, 2 all-rounders, a wicket keeper and 4 bowler.  This year either one batsman or one bowler can be dropped in place of an extra all-rounder due to the rising number in the all-rounder category. Note: you cannot drop a batsman and a bowler for 2 all-rounders.

The total valuation for a team must not exceed £40M.

Teams will be placed in a league and compete in weekly fixtures against another team, the team with the highest score in the fixture receives two league points to their league total.  If the scores are tied league 1 point will be awarded to each team.

Bonus points will be awarded for the size of a teams victory, if a team wins by 100 points they receive league 1 bonus point, a win of 250 points or more will be awarded with league 2 bonus points.  If a team is defeated by only 25 points or less they will receive a consolation league bonus point.

League points are allocated to the team in each fixture with the highest score, this score will be calculated using points allocated for performances as follows:

Batting

Bowling

Fielders (i.e. not Named Keepers)

Named Wicket Keepers

1 point per run

+15 points per wicket

+10 points per catch

+15 points per catch

+25 points for a 50

+25 points for 4 wickets

+15 points direct hit run out

+15 points per stumping

+100 points for a 100

+100 points for 6 wickets

+10 points shared run out

+10 points direct hit run out

-10 points for a duck (excluding bowlers)

+150 points for a hat trick

+5 points shared run out

+20 points top run scorer for team in match

+25 points economy rate of 3 or less (min 4 overs)

Bowling Excluding Named Batsmen and Wicketkeepers

-10 points economy rate of 5 or more (min 4 overs)

-20 points economy rate of 6 or more (min 4 overs)

-25 points economy rate of 7 or more (min 4 overs)

An additional bonus will apply of +10 points if the player plays in a side that wins.

Note: If a player scores 100 runs they will receive the 100 run bonus but not the 50 run bonus in addition (e.g. 100 bonus points, not 125).  This is also the case for the economy rates, if a player were to have an economy rate of 6 or more they would get

 -20 and not -30.

One player in the team must be elected as captain, this player will be awarded double the points he earned in that weekend.  This can be changed every week but the league chairman must be made aware of the change before 8pm of the Friday before the weekend’s fixtures.  The method of contact is the same as that for transfers (See section 7), that is via email or text message. If you fail to select a captain (as many people did last season) the most expensive player will be selected as captain.

A player can only score points in a single senior match in a weekend.  The match to count will be decided as follows:

If a player appears in a league game over a weekend, his performance in the most senior side he plays in is counted.

·         If he plays no league cricket but plays in a cup match then his performance in the most senior cup side he plays for is counted.

·           The only situation where a player can score in two games in a week is on Bank Holiday weekends where there is a 3rd XI game on the Monday.  Players who played Sunday but not Saturday will be allowed to count their points from Sunday’s and Monday’s matches.  Players who played the Saturday of that weekend cannot score points on the Monday.

Transfers can be made via text message to 07921151579 or by email to webmaster@winningtonpark.co.uk, transfers must be made by 8pm Friday to take effect for the matches on the following day. Confirmation will be sent for each transfer made.  Word of mouth transfers will be considered under certain circumstances (e.g. no access to other means) and a form of receipt will be given as proof of transfer.

·         The transfer deadline will be Friday 15th August 2008.

·         A free transfer is available every month (excluding April and September), every additional transfer costs £1, there is no limit to the number of transfers, 50% of transfers will be added to prize money.  There is no penalty on team points for making transfers.

The values below are mainly based on the last two years performances and the perceived value for the forthcoming season (in the case of players who have not played yet and players who have not completed two full seasons).

Regular updates will be sent by e-mail to all participants.  The first game is on 19th April, therefore please post your teams immediately.  Late entries are only accepted in exceptional circumstances.

The season will start on either week 1 or week 2 of the regular season, depending on circumstances.

The Winnington Park Cricket Club Fantasy League Chairman will be:
