PA was promoted to number three in the order this week after batting at eight and nine earlier in the year, and his performance proved it was the right decision to make by 1st XI skipper Alec Butcher.
With the Park chasing 138 to win, they lost their first wicket with 48 runs on the board. Amatiello entered the middle and immediately upped the run rate.
His innings of 43 came from 44 balls and included three sixes, one of which a huge shot that cleared the Woodford pavilion. He eventually fell to Gavin Colebourn but his impact had already been a match-winning one as Park comfortably saw the game out and won by six wickets.
Saturday was the last game Phill can play for a while due to upcoming work commitments, and his performance showed he will be a significant loss.
There was an impressive list of honourable mentions this week too; Greg McKeown hit 45 for the 1st XI and Jonny Wales (4-30) and Rob Begbie (3-31) both shone with the ball in the same game. Whilst in the 2nd XI's win against Malpas, James Hanson took 4-32, Bryan Shingler added 3-34 and there was an excellent opening wicket partnership between Sam Speak (37) and Joe Paterson (34).
