After visitors Haslington had put on a mammoth total of 215 in the first innings, Park were on a nervy 24-2 when Darren came in at four. He went on to make 92 off just 83 balls, a knock that included 11 fours and two sixes.
He brought Park close to victory and had Haslington worried, but was eventually bowled by a superb delivery from left arm spinner Joe Mosley. His contribution had already been a great one though as the Park batted out the final overs to finish on 175-6 and take 11 points.
Darren has been battling illness this season so the club are grateful he has even made himself available, but after also hitting 42 in the opening game he now has 134 runs already with an average of 67.00 and has left everyone at the club impressed by his fast start.
In 2014 he finished the season as the 2nd XI's second-leading run scorer and his average of 33.30 was good enough for fourth-best in the league.
In this week's honourable mentions there are a couple more players who could have easily taken the award. Jonny Wales had an excellent all-round performance in the 1st XI's win over Haslington as he hit 45 and took 3-10, and Bryan Shingler took 6-63 in the 2nd XI's draw against the same club.
