victory at Heaton Mersey, who are struggling to come to terms with the quality
of premiership cricket - especially now
promising young fast bowler Jonny Simpson has taken a Saturday job. For the Parkgate side, Aussie Jack Smith
(136) and the League’s 2007 Young Player David Hurst (97) enjoyed a third
wicket stand worth 167 in a tally of 284-4. ‘
The highest individual score of the
premiership season was posted by Nantwich’s impressive

Oxton enjoyed an 80 runs win at Bollington after
declaring on 185-7, Chris Davies 55, Peter Benson 39. The Wirral club have
unearthed a top-class Overseas player in Indian all-rounder Chandra Atram, who
took 5-33 and was helped by fellow seamer Chris Stenhouse 3-43 as Bolly were
bowled out for 105, Mo Ali 32.

evergreen left-hander Gary Cash passed 16,000 league runs since his debut 31
years ago in 1977 with a contribution of 45 in his side’s first Division Two
win since regaining League status.
Together with son Joe (45) he helped Marple total 143, to which Burnage
replied with 121 all out, S. Baig 31, another old favourite Andy Greasley
spinning his way to 5-45.
Grappenhall registered their first win, by
five wickets at home to Stockport Georgians, who declared on 185-6, Mark
Vincent 82, Sid Normanton 55 not out, Steve Titchard 3-36. Grappers came back with 188-5 with three

Edge’s Jason Whittaker was omitted when
Ben Thomas scored 50 in Irby’s nine runs win
at Burnage in Division Two.
“Poynton’s popular and successful long-time 2nd
XI skipper Andy McAlpine is fighting leukemia.
Andy had a great season in 2007 leading his team into the Premier
division, then made a personal breakthrough into the 1st XI, a
challenge he was looking forward to continuing this season.
Andy was then diagnosed late last year with a
serious and rare form of leukemia, he
is continuing to have intensive treatment to which he is responding well. Andy and his father Duncan are really
important to everyone at Poynton Sports Club and we are sure everyone in the
League will join us in wishing Andy a successful recovery.
We can’t wait to see you back on the cricket
